I have always been drawn to symmetry. When I am driving through a residential area, I am attracted to houses that have a symmetrical architecture.
From the lovely Cape Cod design with its sweet dormers on either side of the middle of the house to the solid red brick farmhouse style with the same number of windows on one side of the door as on the other, this symmetry in architectural design is pleasant to me.
I am sure I am not alone. Perhaps you, too, find some enjoyment and maybe even a sense of calm and peace about symmetry.
Did you know that we are naturally drawn to symmetry because of a simple, natural reality?
Human beings are symmetrical in our very selves, our bodies. Our central torso extends to two legs which come out of hip bones located at the front on either side of the torso.
And we have two arms that grow out of our shoulders, one of each located on either side of our upper torso.
Two is a key number when we look at our bodies: two eyes, two ears, two arms, two hands, two legs, two feet.
An essential role of two in regard to our bodies is balance. With two arms and two legs we are able to stand, walk, and run without falling over.
Beyond our bodies, symmetry is how we view our world and make sense of it.
From a young age, our brains begin to make sense of the world around us that we are awakening to by finding patterns in our world.
We are read stories with patterns that help us to predict what will come next like “Five Little Monkeys” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear. What Do You See?”
We sort, organize and classify objects around us, both living and inanimate.
Do you have a little one or a niece or nephew and enjoy playing games with them that require sorting and classifying?
Making patterns out of things and seeing the patterns that exist in our world are a natural part of our development.
My grandson loves nature and the first thing he does when he comes to visit me is hunt for bugs and insects. He’s a real little biologist!
He sorts the creatures he finds into different categories, looking at their similarities and differences.
Patterning is also a key part of mathematics. Patterning is part of numbers and it is part of geometry - shapes.
When we recognize patterns in our world around us whether those patterns occur in numbers, objects, or architecture - as my example of houses - we have a sense of calm and control.
This is because patterns allow us to predict what is coming. Observing geometrical shapes and how they are put together can build our confidence and give us a sense of security.
In the Mindful Geometric Symmetry Coloring Book you are invited into a world of fabulous geometric shapes. Triangles, squares, hexagons, circles, rectangles and prisms appear on each page in marvelous patterns.
You decide how to fill in and shade each perfectly drawn shape to bring each page to life.
Bring your own character and artistry to these 50 pages and enjoy the art of coloring.

The act of filling intricate designs with vibrant hues extends beyond mere entertainment, offering a myriad of benefits for mental, emotional, and even physical well-being.
From stress relief to enhanced focus, join me as I take a look at some of the many benefits of coloring.
- Stress Reduction:Coloring provides a powerful outlet for stress relief. Engaging in this creative activity allows us to focus our minds on the present moment, redirecting our attention away from stressors. The rhythmic and repetitive motion of coloring in geometric shapes helps calm the nervous system, reducing cortisol levels and promoting an overall sense of tranquility.
- Mindfulness and Meditation:Coloring can act as a form of mindfulness and meditation. When we are concentrating on the intricate details of the various geometric shapes and designs of these coloring pages we become fully present, and can enter a meditative state. This mindfulness practice not only relaxes our mind but also enhances our self-awareness and promotes a sense of peace within ourselves.
- Improved Motor Skills:For children, coloring helps develop fine motor skills. The precise movements required to color within the lines of circles, squares and many other geometric shapes help to refine hand-eye coordination. This foundational skill set is crucial for various activities throughout life, from writing to intricate tasks we perform as adults.
- Enhanced Focus and Concentration:Coloring demands a high level of focus, especially when dealing with the detailed designs of geometric symmetry. The act of choosing colors, staying within lines, and coordinating different patterns improves our concentration. This improved focus can even have a positive impact on our work and daily tasks that require prolonged attention.
- Artistic Expression:Coloring the geometric symmetrical designs of these pages gives you a way to express yourself artistically without the pressure of creating something from scratch. You can experiment with colors, combinations, and shading techniques, and develop a sense of creativity and self-expression. This is particularly helpful for people like myself who don’t necessarily consider themselves to be naturally artistic.
- Social Connection:I often color by myself, finding a few moments of quiet and calm in my busy day to fill in geometric shapes and patterns, but I also love to share this activity with friends and family. With a bowl of popcorn and some favorite tunes, coloring is a fun family activity on a Friday night, or a way to connect with my friends whenever!
Our coloring pages print with smooth lines at popular paper sizes, including Letter (8.5 inches x 11 inches) and A4 (210mm x 297mm).
You do not need an expensive printer or to have pages printed commercially. Our pages look great with both ink jet and laser printers.
